Nogaret Sofa

Superb and large Louis XV period basket sofa attributed to Pierre Nogaret, the famous master carpenter from Lyon. The backrest sculpted with cushioning clips and flowers is extended by whip-shaped armrests, the whole resting on arched legs ending in windings topped with a moving and deeply sculpted belt of a beautiful and generous floral ornamentation where each flower is different. Curves and counter-curves are the signature of the master. Nogaret did not know the straight line. Stitched tapestry trim. The sculptures as well as their quality, the templates and the very good quality of the walnut used make it an exceptional piece and allow us to unquestionably attribute this magnificent sofa to the Nogaret stone workshop.
