Object description :

"Whistling Rattle With Bells In Sterling Silver And Coral - Ep. XVIII°"
Very beautiful whistling rattle in solid silver and coral, 18th century work. The barrel is hollow with six cut sides, interrupted by a large pearl between two thin hemmed rings and as many bells still tinkling nicely, ending with a whistle. No missing, old baby bite marks, beautiful object very well preserved. Some bells with dents and wear (see photos). Master goldsmith to be determined. Hallmark inscribed on the back on the mouthpiece of the whistle. The handle is made of a branch of coral, which has long been known to protect, among many beliefs, from illnesses and to protect children from nightmares. This superb object is complete and in very good conditions. Length: 16cm. / 6.3 in. Weight - Weight: 50 gr.
