"Large Terracotta Garden Gnome With A Pipe, Germany Circa 1920"
Large terracotta garden gnome with a pipe, Germany circa 1920

Large German garden gnome, circa 1920s. The dwarf holds a pipe and a cane in his hands. Good vintage condition with signs of wear consistent with age. Some rubbed and partially painted areas. Overall, the original patina is excellent. See the pictures.

Traditionally, garden figures depicted male gnomes wearing red pointed caps and carrying garden tools, usually between one and two feet tall and used in Europe as decoration for bourgeois gardens.
