Superb Napoleon III period pendant in gold decorated with scrolls in the style of a parchment, in an oval shape and surrounding a superb shell cameo in very high relief representing a faun dancing and playing cymbals on a stump.
the details of the faun are worthy of a high quality miniature and are reminiscent of certain miniature sculptures on ivory.
The faun appears in white and ivory color standing out against a light reddish brown background.
the relief is strong and is protected by an oblong crystal-style glass.
on the back of the pendant the whole is protected by a thick layer of mother-of-pearl.
