"Opalescent Dog Cup, René Lalique For Verreries d'Alsace, 1921"
This is an opalescent dog cup from the 1920s. Six greyhounds are represented and engraved around the edge of the cup. Plant motifs decorate the entire bowl with a slightly bluish tint to give relief to the glassmaker's work. The bottom of the cup is marked VDA which represents Alsace glassware. It was in 1921 that Lalique opened its Verrerie d'Alsace and this piece of glass would have been one of the first produced at the factory. It is indeed quite rare to find the VDA brand because it was only used briefly. Condition of the piece: Good condition, defect in the glass at the bottom of the cup. Dimensions: Diameter: 24 cm Height: 9cm
