"Flute Stopper, Sawos, East Sepik, Papua New Guinea"
Flute stopper representing a slender bird, certainly a hornbill. These sacred flutes are played during initiation ceremonies. The bird is elegant and has good dynamics.
Wood covered with ocher pigment pigments and blackened in places. Local restoration at the beak level.
