"Northern India, State Of Uttar Pradesh, 1960s/1970s, Soapstone Sculpture Of A Lingam. "
Northern India, state of Uttar Pradesh, 1960s/1970s, very pretty soapstone sculpture in the shape of a lingam in a yoni representing the masculine and the feminine, phallic symbol of the god Shiva whose cult is linked to the idea of fertility and creative power. On a circle symbolizing eternal beginnings, there is a trident, an attribute of Shiva relating to Trimurti (creation, perpetuation, destruction) and the universal Hindu symbol “Om” (primitive divine vibration of the universe which represents all existence). Good quality work.
