Object description :

"Rare Mute Servant. Mahogany And Marble. Around 1840. 19th Century. "
Rare quadripod mute servant from the Louis-Philippe period with three octagonal mahogany trays arranged one above the other. They are made of mahogany like the frame of the furniture and are of decreasing size. The third forming the summit. It is covered in cream-colored veined marble. The belts of the trays are in brass and in Louis XVI style. This small piece of furniture looks like a pedestal table on a barrel. Furniture for privacy, it was born in the 18th century in a context of re-sizing of living rooms in noble houses. With the size of the rooms being reduced, “everyday” objects are also presented in smaller dimensions. It is in this intimate state of mind that the mute servant is born. Replacing servants and servants under the Restoration, this refined piece of furniture offers guests access to different dishes for guests during festive dinners and suppers. It is an elegant, refined little piece of furniture and rare enough to be presented in our gallery. The shoes need to be redone on 3 feet. The furniture is in “nice” condition. Width of high top: 25 cm/25cm Medium top: height 81 cm and width 32/32 cm Low top: height 48 cm and width 44/44 cm
