Two beautiful shepherdesses from the Louis XVI period (around 1780), forming a pendant, one is stamped by the Parisian master carpenter PE Langlois, the other unstamped but of the same model probably from his workshop. These two beautiful seats are perfectly reupholstered on all sides (the backs included), with a short velvet (Maison Lelièvre) orange color in perfect condition. The trim is in the so-called “frame” style but without piping. The seats are each furnished with a good, comfortable reversible cushion as well as a lower back roller cushion for low support.
The barrels are in perfect condition; the straps under fabric are redone in the old fashioned way. Very small deviations in dimensions do not affect the quality or use of the set. PE Langlois 1738-1805, recognized as a master carpenter in Paris in 1774, in the “specialty of seats”, was one of the suppliers to the court at Versailles and to great families in Paris including the Marquis de Laborde, a great financier and other personalities.

Dimensions: Height 97.5 cm/98.5 cm, Arm width 54cm/58 cm, Seat depth (on cushion) 55cm/55cm.
