Small Brass Strainer - Early 19th Century

Rare small brass STRAINER in the shape of a cap with a turned wooden tail with a wrought iron attachment, fitted with two suspension hooks. Edge wrapped on iron stiffener.
Length: 37.5cm.
Diameter: 20.5 cm.
FRANCE, first half of the 19th century

The strainer is in perfect condition but the wooden handle is split along its length.
These brasswares are not melted, but worked with a hammer by successive shrinking and recasting. They are, it must be remembered, therefore unique objects...
