"Fritz Haberkorn, Painting Of Our Lady Of Clarity In Perros Guirec (côtes d'Armor) Brittany"
Pretty painting representing a view of the interior porch of the Notre Dame de la Clarté chapel in Pérros-Guirec in the Côtes d'Armor in Brittany. This magnificent porch is surmounted by three polychrome wooden statues dating from the 17th century. On the left, the education of the Virgin by Saint Anne. In the center, the Virgin and Child. On the right, Saint Peter. This chapel was built in the 15th century, legend has it that a certain Pierre de Tournemine, Lord of Barac'H, whose ship was in danger, caught by the mist near the seven islands, made the vow to raise a chapel at Notre Dame, at the very place on the coast which would be the first to emerge from this thick fog. This painting was painted by Fritz Haberkorn born in 1898 and died in 1969. This oil on canvas bears the artist's signature at the bottom left and the annotation "Our Lady of Clarity" at the bottom right. This painting includes old repairs as well as relining in several parts, see last photo. Our painting is sold without a frame.
