"Fabien Mouillard – “le Bain Turc Des Sauriens” Great Original Gouache After Ingres!"
Fabien MOUILLARD – The Turkish Bath of Saurians. Large original gouache (395 x 395 mm) accompanied by 3 small original gouaches (150 x 150 mm each), studies of materials making up the main work (saurian skin, wood, plant leaves), all mounted on cardboard (650 x 500 mm).
Very good state.
This superb gouache is an original interpretation, to say the least, of the famous painting Le Bain Turc by Ingres (1862), which presented a group of naked women in a harem. Here the women are replaced by saurians (iguanas and crocodiles) !
This is a student work at the School of Graphic Arts, written in pencil at the bottom right: “Fabien Mouillard AG1 B”.
In 2012, Fabien Mouillard, then aged 37, was appointed Creative Director of the Publicis EtNous agency, a branch of Publicis which works mainly for Hermès. He is the son of Raoul Mouillard (1935-2018), painter, sculptor and engraver. This work comes from Raoul's studio collection.
