The main relics, namely those integrated into the representation of this monstrance, are those of Saints Didier and Félicissime. For the first, it is Saint Didier probably of Langres, in reference to his bishopric and who would have suffered martyrdom in 407 In mirror image, we find Saint Felicissime, deacon in the service of Pope Sixtus II, martyr in 258 with his companions. Six other relics accompany this devotional work: Saint Philip Neri, canonized in 1622, relics undoubtedly subsequently reported. Saint Illuminated, Martyr of the year 303 Saint Donatus, Martyr of the year 362 Saint Valentine, Martyr Saint Justin, Martyr Note one last relic, unidentifiable because it is largely detached from its support (top right corner).
Interesting provenance label on the reverse, mentioning the sale of this piece in the auction house in 1927.
Good condition for this old reliquary, despite some interior defects.
Dimensions of 28 cm by 23 cm and 4 cm deep.
