Very beautiful painting framed with an 18th century golden rod, Oil on copper from the 17th century, about the penitent Mary Magdalene. Made by a follower of FRANCKEN Frans I known as The Elder (1524 - 1616). Superb treatment of light and great finesse of production. Many details are expressed in the shadow of the room: virgin and child in front of her, skull on an entablature, plants on the ground, skylight behind her, from which comes a halo of light. At the back, the copper is protected by a recent panel. Original condition, original varnish probably requiring cleaning or even lightening, in order to express the full potential of this work.
