"Russian Lacquered Box Early 20th"
Important Russian tobacco box in a cylindrical shape from the beginning of the 20th century. It is made of black lacquered wood, the lid decorated with a painted tavern scene bringing together 3 figures seated at a table drinking and smoking in very natural attitudes. The inside of the box is lacquered in dark burgundy and has an inscription in gold letters indicating that the decoration was made after a painting by David Ténier; it is surmounted by a very beautiful Russian coat of arms painted in gold; on the lower part are 3 letters also painted in gold, undoubtedly the initials of the creator of this high quality box.
