Charles Octave LEVY 1820 / 1899
Charles-Octave Lévy, born in Paris on April 20, 1820 where he died in the 11th arrondissement on April 28, 1899, was a student of Armand Toussaint, and exhibited several statuettes at the Salon , from 1873 to 1898. He obtained an honorable mention in 1887 and a third class medal in 1889.

Judith therefore means “Judean” or “Jewish”. A wife of Esau, twin brother of Jacob, is named Judith (Genesis 26, 34). But the name is generally given in reference to the woman mentioned in the Book of Judith (Bible according to the deuterocanonical versions: Catholic and Orthodox), the one who defeated Holofernes.
The Book of Judith is a deuterocanonical book of the Bible. It relates how the beautiful and young widow Judith (יְהוּדִית; Yehudit; "Praised" or "Jew", in Greek: Ιουδίθ) wards off the threat of a Babylonian invasion by beheading the enemy general Holofernes, and at the same time restores the faith of the Jewish people in the saving power of their God.
In French card games, this heroine gave her name to the “lady of hearts”.
