Ko beshimi had his aesthetic standards at an early stage and the examples vary very little:: anger overwhelms the expression. .the name beshimi derives from the archaic verb heshimu which means to close the mouth or to compress. lips beshimi does not resemble any category of mask. some researchers suggest a link with the gyodo omai mask itself in relation to gigaku "chido" masks: furrowed eyebrows bulbous eyes pursed lips..at first sight obeshimi seems quite frightening. at first glance however at second glance the imbalance and extreme tension give the image of bravado and vain threat.. .the entire mask is configured as a series of interlocking Vs: long deep furrows mark the forehead .the corner of the compressed lips curve upwards crumpling the cheeks up to the cheekbones These characteristics increase the comedy of the character limiting its use to light roles: l the most extreme examples would suit the characters of Kyogen Obeshimi was used by the Kanze troupe but also by the Hosho and umewaka families.
