Chalice and paten in gilded silver in neo-Gothic style. The base with six beaded lobes with several ogees forms a domed terrace with embossed and chiseled decoration of large water leaves and aquatic plants on a guilloche background. An enamelled cross pattée adorns the foot of the chalice. The barrel is tubular, decorated with a collar and a toric knot highlighted in its center by a belt of quatrefoils in relief, chiseled with water leaves on each side. The slightly conical shaped cup with a straight edge is set in a flowery and openwork under-cut which keeps the same polylobed and floral ornamentation as the terrace of the chalice foot. Weighted foot. France around 1900 Minerva hallmarks 950/1000 on the cut, on the false cut and on the edge of the terrace. This chalice bears the hallmarks of the Lyon master goldsmith Louis Gille et Cie (Louis and Pierre Gille) whose hallmark was inscribed in 1889, its paten was executed by the Parisian workshop Demarquet Frères around 1900 and is perfectly suited to both the decoration of the caliсe than the size of its cup.
