Object description :

"Jl Hardy: Exceptional Olive Tongs In Sterling Silver From The Empire Period. Early 19th Century. "
Very interesting olive, sugar or other refined dishes tongs in solid silver from the Empire period.

The branches of the pliers are made up of twisted stems ending in flowers to grip the olives.
The junction of the two branches is engraved with flowers, geometric friezes and the number CL.

This configuration of pliers with these twisted stems and these flowers is extremely rare, I have never seen one elsewhere.

The pliers are very early, they are marked:
. 1st rooster for money 1st Parisian title used between 1798 and 1809
. Average hallmark guaranteed for the same period
. Goldsmith's mark JLH with a crown for Jean-Louis Hardy, active from 1805

The study of the hallmarks allows us to date this pliers very precisely, between 1805 and 1809.

Very rare and interesting olive tongs from the Empire period, remarkable for its manufacture and its precocity.

14.5cm long
34.7 grams

Very good state. Small scratches from use.
