Balinese Betel Nut Scissors Singaraja
Balinese betel nut scissors from Singaraja, Bali. These scissors were used in the betel nut chewing ritual and were considered a luze product that could show the guest that one had a high status. The scissors are made of metal and inlaid with silver patterns. The handles are covered in silver. The representation of the scissors is a mythical lion called Singha and has its origins in Hinduism.
