Jacques Villon (1875-1963) - Watercolor of a Woman Watercolor on paper representing a woman Signed lower in the middle and entitled "Young crouching woman" Work presented during an exhibition entitled "La femme" in 1968. Jacques Villon (French , born July 31, 1875 in Damville – died June 9, 1963 at age 87), painter and engraver linked to the Cubist movement, is famous for his realistic and abstract works. Born in the Haute-Normandie region, Villon is the brother of Suzanne Duchamp, Raymond Duchamp-Villon and Marcel Duchamp. In 1894 he moved to Paris to study law, but gradually his interest developed in art and he spent the following years making illustrations for newspapers. Please note reflections in the photos due to the presence of Visible glass at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, at 97 rue de Courcelles, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
