"Jan Miel (1599-1663); Suiveur De - Festa Di Laurea Nella Strada"
- Oil on canvas. A very interesting work due to its proximity to the manner of the Bamboccianti, in particular the Flemish painter Jan Miel, whose style is closely followed in the way of representing the figures and architecture, and in the rhythm of the composition. In this street scene, a group of cheerful students celebrate in a tavern when one of them receives his diploma, which in Italy has been associated since ancient times with a wreath of laurel leaves. In a moment of intoxication, which gives that burlesque and comic note common to many Dutch masters, the laurel wreath was thrown and hangs from a beam. A very interesting work, of great pictorial quality, and open to interpretations and attributions. - Dimensions of the unframed image: 76 x 68 cm / 90 x 74 cm with magnificent mid-19th century framing. - Comes from a private collection in Madrid. - Good condition. Minimal defects. Relining.
