Pewter Dishes - Bordeaux Or Toulouse, 17th Century

Pair of pewter PLATES with a plain wide wing called “cardinal style”.
Armorial property mark stamped on the wing "at the fallen tree", accompanied by a plumed helm.
Diameter: 32 cm.
BORDEAUX or TOULOUSE, Second half of the 17th century

Very good condition, the coat of arms however shows normal wear - A suspension ring has been brazed on the reverse.
The stamping of coats of arms is characteristic on Bordeaux and, to a lesser extent, Toulouse plates, while they are generally engraved on productions from other French centers.
The fashion for these wide, plain winged dishes was imported from Italy under the influence of Cardinal Mazarin
