"Canivet With The Holy Spirit Double Sided 18th Century"
Delicate double-sided collectible canivet from the 18th century, enhanced with gouache, unframed. This work of fervor was carried out like a prayer, it is written in Latin on the reverse: Sub imbra alarum tua rum protege which could be translated into French like this: protect me under the cover of your wings. Very fine work of paper cutting in imitation of lace, representing flowering branches which surround an oval medallion in which a dove descending from the sky is drawn. The bird resting on a mound, symbol of the Holy Spirit, is drawn in a landscape, in the background a church whose architecture is similar to Alsatian or North-Eastern France constructions... Small golden highlights on the branches , the heart of the flowers, the edge of the medallion. Free delivery for mainland France.
