"Annunciation, Central Italy, 1600."
Beautiful annunciation painted in oil applied on poplar panel. The painter who painted this annunciation is certainly fascinated by the culture of Caravaggio for the colors and chiaroscuro values obtained. It would seem to also look, iconographically speaking, at the types of Annunciations painted by Ventura Salimbeni or Barrocci followers. The painting was therefore executed by a painter from central Italy fascinated by the currents in vogue around the first twenty years of the 17th century.
In fact, even the splendid frame on which it is mounted, with fine angular work with vegetal spirals engraved on gold, would belong to the scope and dating that we have indicated.
