"Large Chryselephantine Carrier Belleuse "the Reader"" 63 cm Proof in chiseled and patinated gilded bronze. Large Chryselephantine by Carrier Belleuse "La Liseuse" signed on its base with its cartridge inscribed "Liseuse by Carrier Belleuse Grand prix du Salon", medal-colored patina, its ivory face and hands are in perfect condition, no restoration or missing. Albert-Ernest Carrier de Belleuse known as Carrier Bulleuse was born on June 12, 1824 in Anizy le château and died on June 4, 1887 in Sèvres. Sculptor and painter, student of David d'Angers, he began at the Salon of 1851. He was Auguste Rodin's teacher and was one of the most prolific artists of the Second Empire. Drawing its inspiration particularly from the Renaissance style and that of the 17th century.
