Oak Panel In Polychrome Bas Relief Of The Assumption Of The Virgin. Germany Early 16th Century

Beautiful and rare oak panel carved in polychrome low relief. It is curved at the top and framed by a large molding. It represents the Virgin in the center. Under the representation of God the father at the top, it is inscribed in a long string: “Totapulchra es amica mea et macula originalisnon es in te” (you are all beautiful, my beloved, and there is no stain in you) taken from a verse from the Song of Solomon. It is surrounded by decorative elements also highlighted by their speech bubbles.
