Large silk manila shawl, richly embroidered with flowers, period circa 1920. Silk size 150*150 and 230*230 with fringes. Origin of the flamenco shawl. The flamenco shawl is also known as the "Manila shawl" and although its name is linked to the former Spanish colonies in the Philippines, it originated in China, around 4,000 years ago. The shawl and its integration into flamenco shows. The first appearances of the Manila shawl in flamenco shows took place in cafés cantantes.
