Louis XV Double-sided Desk In Blackened Wood, 18th Century
Superb and elegant large double-sided desk from the Louis XV period in blackened wood. It rests on 4 arched legs decorated with gilded bronzes decorated with shell scrolls and foliage over their entire height. The crosspieces are scrolled on all 4 sides, the front opens with 3 scrolled and molded drawers fitted with gilded bronze pull handles, the sides are molded and decorated with a gilded bronze mask. The other side opens with 2 drawers, the central one is trompe l'oeil. The top is covered with leather decorated with gold leaf, surrounded by an ingot mold and spandrels at the corners; all of the bronzes are finely chiseled and gilded. High quality work, in excellent condition, rare on both sides.
