Pair of Louis XVI style wall lights in the terms of Bacchus child Nice pair of bronze wall lights with double patina, Louis XVI style, they are inspired by the works of Jean Louis Prieur, including some models made in the 18th century around the 1780s are attributed to Pierre Gouthière, (Christie's sale of November 19, 2020, lot 30). Made in a neoclassical style, they find their sources of ornamentation in Greek and Roman antiquity, they offer an architecture centered on terms to children topped with vine leaves and grapes reminiscent of the god Bacchus, they hold at arm's length the 2 arms of lights, the child's busts are connected to the sheath by a drape, the pilasters of the terms have a ribbed and heart-shaped background and are finished with acanthus leaves and buds.
