Drawing Empire, The Victimarius, Jean Jacques François Le Barbier

Artist: Jean Jacques François Le Barbier
Very beautiful drawing in its original cardboard frame, early 19th century, Jean Jacques François Le Barbier (1738-1826). An identical drawing attributed to the painter was sold at Sotheby's in New York in 2010. The quality of the drawing is in every way similar to the New York copy. In Roman antiquity, the victimarius was a servant employed in worship and whose function was to prepare the instruments linked to sacrifices.
