FIREFIGHTER HELMET FROM THE CITY OF AVREMESNIL, MODEL 1852, SECOND EMPIRE.Entirely in brass, bomb topped with a crest composed of: Two fins stamped with a descending series of gadroons. The crest is topped with a black horsehair caterpillar. The bottom of the bomb is decorated at the back with a brass band representing an oak branch and bordered by a twisted molding. Brass front plate stamped in relief with a rectangular coat of arms decorated in its center with a flaming bomb placed on a molded escutcheon surmounting a branch of oak and laurel with in the background a bundle of flags (broken tips, welds) and crossed axes, in the lower part, a ribbon bears the inscription “Srs POMPIERS DE AVREMESNIL”. Movable visor stamped with two crossed axes, with crack. Brass chin straps: Chin strap stamped in a brass plate in relief of a series of scalloped and chiseled scales; This plaque is mounted on a black waxed leather core, round rosettes stamped in relief with gadroons. Plumet holder of square section decreasing slightly towards the bottom, tightening screw absent. Interior cover in brown leather. (posterior).
