Monstrance Reliquary Of Saint Sylvester - 19th
According to Catholic tradition and the liturgical calendar, Sylvester is celebrated as a Saint on December 31. By his name, he is known to everyone because he is named…. every eve of the beginning of the year. He is the 33rd pope. Our gilded bronze monstrance, decorated with graceful winged cherubs in the Cloud, is carried on the shaft by a central, full-length angel.
The foot is decorated with rockeries and shells. The Reliquary itself is recessed.
Under glass and decorated with paper, it is sealed by a precious wax episcopal seal, with arms representing a crayfish. The ex ossibus relic is significant and therefore clearly visible. It is a French work from the beginning of the 19th century.
On the back, grip handle. Good condition, note that the summit cross is missing.
Dimensions of 37 cm by 14 in width and 8.5 in depth.
