"Caquetoire Chair. French Renaissance. Circa 1570."
Rare arm chair with tropeidal seat resting on two turned and ringed legs, on the front. The backrest and the high seat, still typical of Gothic art, are connected by two beautifully crafted arms and a true innovation of this French Renaissance seat. Note: the knocked-out crosspieces as well as the framed backrest which in its upper part is decorated with a frieze decorated with crosses pattées. Seat in good state of conservation. Some usual restorations: traces of blocked xylophages, later front spacer (footrest) and two mini grafts, one at the rear of the backrest and the other inside the right crosspiece. Walnut wood. France, 16th century.
