"Rare Tiny Stack Of Bucket Weights Called Charlemagne, 100 G, 18th Century Bronze"
The Russian doll-style body and interior weights are all punched numerous times. These five small weights (missing the smallest) in the shape of buckets fitting into each other are also called Charlemagne piles, the time of the beginning of the standardization of units of measurement.
These piles were the measurement references and were used by artisans who worked gold or silver, goldsmiths, jewelers, gold beaters, and also money changers. Good condition, a weight pierced at the bottom
