He studied at the school of fine arts in this city before going to Paris to continue his studies and work. He began exhibiting his paintings at the Salon du Champ de Mars in 1892. Seyssaud was influenced by the Fauvist movement, characterized by a bold use of color. His painting is characterized by broad brushstrokes and bright colors. He was one of the founding members of the Marseille school in 1900. Seyssaud spent most of his life painting landscapes of Provence.
