A very vivid memory in this part of the Guisanne valley remains that of the exploitation of the ice, each year from May to September, between 1884 and 1920. From large blocks, extracted from the glacier at With the help of dynamite, the ice was cut into pieces of 50 centimeters, loaded onto carts which descended via the Arsine path to the village of Casset and, after a storage stage in Briançon, left for the coolers of Marseille via the railway line, opened in 1884 from Briançon.
