Head in Bourget stone sculpted in direct size.François MARTINEZ is a sculptor from Oran and this head was sculpted in the 1930s, a time when he worked stone for life-size pieces like the one representing "commerce" commissioned in 1934 by the Chamber of Commerce of Oran in Algeria. He also carves animals in blocks of walnut but remains relatively little known "in our country"
