Large Cut Glass With Engraved Decor Of A Man Drinking From A Barrel Netherlands (?) 18th Century
Large blown, cut and engraved glass from the 18th century, probably from the Netherlands region. The cup has a finely engraved decoration depicting a man wearing a cap, probably a winemaker, astride a wine barrel, arms outstretched, holding a glass in one hand and a pitcher in the other, surrounded by two shrubs. On the other side of the cup, this engraved inscription: "Vivat Hensel In De Kelder". The baluster-shaped leg, which a large air bubble makes hollow, as well as the base of the cup, are faceted. They are extended by a large circular hemmed foot. Dimensions: height 18.5 cm, diameter at the rim: 7.4 cm, diameter of the foot: 8.8 cm. Cane mark visible under the foot. A few small scattered air bubbles. Copy in perfect condition: no cracks, no shock, material without traces, perfectly translucent.
