Object description :

"Humidor Smiling Squash, Bb Tobacco Jar, Austria, Late 19th Century"
Figurative humidifier, modeled from white Tepplitz clay in two joined parts: body and lid. It was hand painted,  bright colors with encaustic and its patina is shiny, very successful. This tobacco pot is a "trompe-l'oeil", in the shape of a green squash, with happy, smiling, cigar-smoking face.... It is a famous model, a fairly rare tobacco "humidor". Inside lid, we slipped a vegetable sponge, which kept tobacco or cigars a little moist.
Shape, colors, condition are very successful. Amazing tobacco pot.
Authentic, marked BB for Bernhard Bloch Austrian or Viennese manufacture, competitor of Goldscheider, late 19th century, an old piece that we guarantee. Dimensions: approximately: H: 16cm, D: 12cm. Condition: excellent, flawless, no breakage, beautiful patina Nothing stuck, cracked...
