Abraham Storck is mentioned in the records of the Guild of Saint Luke from 1679. His repertoire is varied: views of ports from the coast, naval battles, imaginary Mediterranean ports and navigation scenes. He painted many views of Italy although he did not have the opportunity to know this country. he was certainly inspired by engravings to represent the monuments which he arranged according to his imagination.
