Lavis, Barbe Island (lyon) 1829 Charles Ransonnette (1793-1877)
Very beautiful drawing, wash representing the island of Barbe and its surroundings in 1829. Painting signed CH Ransonnette. We find the inscription at the bottom left in pencil: "Barbe near Lyon 1829". The island and its abbey were not yet part of Lyon at that time. The island is located on the Saône near the town of Caluire-et-cuire. Some slight gaps should be noted (see photos). The drawing is framed in a pretty gilded wooden frame.
