Dunkirk 1737, Pair Of Candlessterling Silver, “des Anges De Losven” Or “crabeels” Coat Of Arms flag

Object description :

"Dunkirk 1737, Pair Of Candlessterling Silver, “des Anges De Losven” Or “crabeels” Coat Of Arms"
Extremely rare pair of solid silver candlesticks with hexagonal feet from the Louis XV period. They are in very good condition. They are each hallmarked in several places with the small hallmarks of the town of Dunkirk for the year 1737. On the outside of the foot, at the beginning of the dome ,they are the large hallmarks of Dunkirk from the same year but unfortunately strong erased. On the navel of each torch is engraved a very beautiful coat of arms surmounted by a cherub's head. It is furnished with a chevron and three pears. We find these coats of arms on several pieces with the Dunkirk hallmark, among others on a teapot from 1742 photographed in Madame Nicole Cartier's book on Flanders goldsmithing. Until now, they have not been identified with certainty because two families have these quite similar coats of arms: the Des Anges de Losven (Morlaix) and the Crabeels (Flanders and Brabant). The candlesticks are in very good condition and weigh 860 grams per pair.
