This cup or storage compartment from the mid-20th century represents a bull and a bullfighter in its center. Note the DR monogram on the bottom. Gilbert Portanier is one of the ceramists who contributed to the revival of French ceramics from the 1950s to the present day. Established in Vallauris since 1948, he is known for the variety of his forms which range from the most classic and structured to the most baroque. He is often nicknamed “Magician of Colors”. As for the condition, note for those who are more picky, minimal scratches, small breaks in enamel on the border, however it is in a good state of conservation.
