Biography:
HEE TONG LEO is a Singaporean artist born in 1940, who influenced and helped shape the local art scene.
He cites Cheong Soo Pieng, one of Singapore's pioneering artists, as an important influence on his works.
Through Cheong, Leo explored and experimented with the complex relationships between colors and compositional dynamics.
Leo's works are adorned with accolades. He has won 9 Distinction Awards at the UOB Painting of the Year exhibition, more than any other artist in Singapore.
He also received the Special Prize and Winner's Prize in the Overseas Educational Tour organized by the Ministry of Culture in 1975 and 1983.
Leo also received four prizes from the Dr Tan Tsze Chor Art Award competition, among several others laurels.
