Procession Cross Byzantine Style 17th Century

Byzantine style double-sided processional cross.

The main side shows Christ on the cross with the Virgin on the left and Saint John on the right. About that the sun and the moon, the symbol for the darkening of the sun. On the other side the Baptism of Christ is painted. Saint John the Baptist on the left and the Guardian Angel of the Lord on the right. About that the dove of the Holy Spirit. The arms of the cross widen at the end, a shape typical of the Byzantine period.
On the right side and at the top they are broken. There is a bar holder on the bottom side of the cross. Tempera on beech wood.
Absolute originality with old patina.
