"Marble Sculpture “learning To Read” After A. Moreau – 19th Century"
Marble group signed Auguste Moreau (1834-1917), recognized French sculptor, having received numerous awards for his exceptional art sculptures. This work depicts two young children focused on their task, scantily clad and sitting on a mound. A long-haired child teaches his younger brother to read and write. He puts a finger to his mouth to illustrate his reflection. The two cherubs are holding the book and the larger one has a pencil. The artist's signature is present on the terrace dotted with flowers. Realistic and endearing, this sculpture will delight lovers of neo-classical works of art. ******** Period: 19th Century Excellent condition. Restorations.
