Monstrance In Silver And Vermeil, France 1828 - 1838/ Froment-meurice
Monstrance is in silver and gilded silver, embossed, engraved, chiseled and guilloché with radiating decoration in the shape of the so-called "Sun". It rests on a rectangular pyramidal base with four overhanging legs in the shape of a lion's paws. The lower part of the base is decorated all around with acanthus leaves alternating with water leaves. The Trinitarian triangle in a radiant cloud adorns the front face of the base. The mystical lying lamb is represented on the opposite side. The was composed in the upper part of a sheaf of wheat and bunches of grapes joined by a twisted ring and a knot decorated with two heads of cherubs in the round and bunches of grapes. The glory is made up of repelled and cut-out light rays, in its center a bezel surrounded by nets with a hinged portico on the back side, clouds on a guilloché background embellished with the heads of cherubs. Above rises a graceful Latin cross embellished with a frieze of rais de coeur.
This monstrance was made in Paris between 1828 and 1838 by Francois - Désiré Froment - Meurice ** as evidenced by the hallmarks on the work. 950/1000 silver, Michelangelo's head hallmarks (1819-1838) Paris guarantee hallmarks Height: 49.7cm Length: 25 cm Base: 16.5.0 cm X 11.8 cm Weight: 895 gr Silver lunule gold is original, whose removable internal part allows the relic to be presented on a piece of fabric. It is in perfect condition / original beveled glass It should be noted that this monstrance is perfectly preserved and has not undergone any restoration or intervention, it has a solid structure and the gilding is original. ————- Excellent condition / almost new / in its carrying case
