"Chinese Export Leather Trunk China Trade Qing Dynasty Early 19th Century Antique Coffer C. 1820"
An early 19th century Chinese export trunk made for the British market.
Ca. 1820, China.

This interesting early nineteenth century China trade trunk carries a brass name plate on the top with the name ‘Sarlet’.
The leather-covered camphor wooden trunk has a hinged top and carrying-handles with brass-studded decoration overall.

Trunks such as these were made by the Chinese for the British market and as such resemble English designs of the time.
