Rare wooden sculpture by Marcel Wolfers. It is signed with the gold stamp of Marcel Wolfers unique piece. The sculpture with the metal base measures 26cm. Marcel Wolfers was born into a family of artists established in Brussels. His grandfather Louis Wolfers (1820-1892) and his father Philippe (1858-1929)2 were talented artists who worked in a wide variety of media, such as ceramics, silversmithing, and also sculpture. At the end of the 19th century, Marcel became one of the very clear artists of the Art Deco style. Marcel Wolfers studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, where he was a pupil of the artist Isidore De Rudder ( 1855-1943), who also trained his father Philippe. There, Marcel developed his talents as a sculptor, ceramist, but also in goldsmithing and with lacquer.
He contributed to the Universal and International Exhibition in Brussels in 1958, as artistic director of the Wolfers-Frères house for the design of the goldsmith's works presented there.
